Soccer Reports To Campus; Begins Practice

The Bulldogs will play at Baylor on Monday in a high-profile exhibition contest

2015 Samford Soccer Schedule

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The 2015 Samford University soccer team officially reported to campus Tuesday and held its first practices of fall camp at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium. The 25-member squad also held its Picture Day on Wednesday and continued its preparation for Monday's highly-anticipated exhibition contest at Baylor.

Samford, the defending Southern Conference champion, is coming off a 14-8 campaign in which the Bulldogs tallied a 7-2 league record and toppled 18th-ranked Auburn, 2-1. Samford has now been victorious in five of its last six meetings with Southeastern Conference opponents.

The 2015 Bulldogs boast a roster comprised of eight returning starters from last season's team that advanced all the way to the championship match of the SoCon Tournament. Samford's roster this season is composed of three seniors, seven juniors, five sophomores and 10 true freshmen.

The Bulldogs, under the leadership of 14th-year head coach Todd Yelton, will continue practicing in its fall camp Wednesday and Thursday, before traveling to Waco, Texas, on Friday.

Yelton, the 2014 SoCon Coach of the Year, owns a brilliant 162-74-32 career record at Samford University. His talented coaching staff is comprised of Jay Yelton and Alyssa Whitehead.

The Bulldogs play at Baylor on Monday at 6 p.m. (CDT) and once again face a daunting regular-season schedule in 2015. Samford's home schedule includes Georgia, Duke, Wake Forest, Memphis, Boise State and South Alabama. A road trip to Auburn, Ala., to face the Auburn Tigers is also schedule for Sept. 4, at 7 p.m.
