GAME NOTES--SAMFORD AT FLORIDA STATE (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team will travel to Tallahassee, Fla., to take on the sixth-ranked and third-seeded Florida State Seminoles in the first round of the NCAA Tournament Friday at 4 p.m. (CT).
Samford and Florida State are meeting for the sixth time, with FSU having won all five of the previous meetings. Three of the five meetings have been in the NCAA Tournament, including last season's 8-0 loss to the Seminoles. The teams have met in the NCAA Tournament in 2011, 2016 and 2024.
Samford enters Friday night's game with a record of 13-2-5 overall and 7-0-2 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs punched their ticket to the NCAA Tournament with a 4-1 win over Mercer in the championship game of the Southern Conference Tournament on Nov. 9, at Shauna Yelton Field.
Samford has been led so far this season by
Sam De Luca with 15 goals and four assists for 34 total points. Her 15 goals, which lead the SoCon and are tied for ninth in the nation, are just one shy of the school single-season record.
Sarah Holland has four goals and five assists, while
Mamie Carman has four goals and four assists each.

Peyton Hull has posted a goals against average of 0.84 with 79 saves in 1816 minutes in goal. She leads the SoCon and is tied for fifth in the nation in shutouts with 11.
Florida State comes into Friday night's game with a mark of 10-2-4 overall and 6-2-2 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Seminoles are coming off a scoreless tie, eventually falling to Virginia on PKs in the ACC Tournament.
Florida State has been led so far this season by Jordynn Dudley with nine goals and 11 assists for 29 points, while Wrianna Hudson has 11 goals and one assist for 23 points. Addie Todd, Kate Ockene and Evan O'Steen have each spent time in goal for the Seminoles.
Friday's game will mark Samford's 11th NCAA Tournament game in the program's ninth appearance in the tournament. Samford has an all-time record of 1-7-2 in NCAA Tournament games. The Bulldogs have advanced past the first round twice, once in 2005 after tying Vanderbilt, 1-1 and advancing on penalty kicks and again in 2021 after earning a 2-0 win at Auburn. Samford has played the following teams in the NCAA Tournament: Auburn (1-0), Florida State (0-3), Georgia (0-1), LSU (0-1), Pepperdine (0-1), South Carolina (0-1), St. John's (0-0-1) and Vanderbilt (0-0-1).
