CS360 Week-2 National Primetime Performers Honor RollBIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Samford's
Malcanisha Kelley received a prestigious national honor Wednesday as the Bulldogs' junior forward was named a Division I Primetime Performer of the Week by College Soccer 360. Kelley proved to be just one of 11 players in the nation to garner the honor.
Kelley scored three goals and added a pair of assists in two matches over the weekend, including a two-goal outburst in the Bulldogs' demonstrative 5-1 victory against Memphis on Friday.
Kelley, Samford's dynamic junior forward from Childersburg, also tallied the team's game-tying goal in Sunday's momentous 2-1 home triumph over Atlantic Coast Conference-foe Wake Forest. She totaled eight points in two matches last week and has already scored six goals this season.
Just a junior, Kelley has already started her assault on Samford's record book this season. On Sunday, she moved into sole possession of seventh place on Samford's all-time goals scored list with 21. Kelley also owns 14 points in four matches this season and is tied for sixth place on the school's all-time points list with 52.
Kelley was joined on the Primetime Performers College Soccer 360 weekly honor roll by the following student-athletes: Haley Albert (Iowa State), Alex Arlitt (LSU), Julie Eckel (Tennessee), Christina Gibbons (Duke), Rachel Hill (UConn), Savannah Jordan (Florida), Laura Rayfield (Oklahoma), Sarah Stone (Indiana), Holly Van Noord (Liberty) and Claire Wagner (Clemson).
The Samford University soccer team will next be in action Friday at 7 p.m. (CDT) as the Bulldogs travel to Auburn for their first road test of the regular season against the 11
th-ranked Auburn Tigers to be held at the Auburn Soccer Complex.
