BIRMINGHAM, Ala.--The Samford women's tennis team earned a convincing 7-0 win over the Kennesaw State Owls Saturday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Complex.
 
Samford started the match by sweeping the three doubles matches. At the No. 1 doubles spot Carita Moolman and Jessica Northcutt defeated Laura Hopton and Cristina Martin, 6-1. Annika Hepp and Ellie Gerlach earned a 6-2 win over Alexandra Mercado and Gabriela Bueno at No. 2. At the No. 3 position, Savannah Wood and Iva Parapunova defeated Laura Dean and Ashleigh De Wet by a score of 6-2.
 
In singles, Northcutt defeated Martin at the No. 1 position, 5-7, 6-0, 6-1. Moolman earned the win at No. 2, defeating Dean, 6-2, 6-4. At No. 3 singles, Parapunova defeated Mercado, 6-2, 6-4.
 
At No. 4 singles, Gerlach earned a 6-7, 6-1, 1-0 win over Hopton. Wood defeated Isabela Castro, 6-3, 6-2 at No. 5, while Hepp earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory over De Wet at the No. 6 singles spot.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 2-1. Kennesaw State falls to 0-3 with the loss.
 
Samford will host Georgia State Sunday morning. The match is set to begin at 11 a.m. at the Samford Tennis Complex.
