HIGHLIGHTS
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – A total of 10 Samford players worked out for 53 scouts, with 30 NFL teams and two CFL teams sending at least one representative, at the Bulldogs' annual Pro Day, held Tuesday afternoon at Seibert Stadium.
Defensive back
James Bradberry impressed everyone when he turned in an 11-foot broad jump. Bradberry did not participate in every drill due to having performed at the NFL Combine last week.
"I feel like I was smooth in my position-work drills," Bradberry said. "I think I got a better time in my 20-yard shuttle. I jumped 11 in the broad, and I was pleased with that, it was six inches farther than I jumped at the Combine. I feel like I did pretty well."
Defensive lineman
Michael Pierce did 28 reps on the bench press, lifting 225 pounds. He also had a broad jump of nine feet, seven inches, and he ran a 4.98 40-yard dash at 329 pounds. Fellow defensive lineman
Jose Casanova produced 21 reps on the bench press.
"I was hoping to show that I'm explosive, especially for a 329-pound guy," Pierce said. "I think I did that with my 40 and my broad jump today. In the weight room, I think I showed them I was competitive and strong, which is important for a nose guard."
Quarterbacks
Michael Eubank and
Carson Barnett both worked out and impressed the scouts with their throwing ability. Linebacker
Justin Cooper had a 35.5-inch vertical jump, and defensive back
Trey Wesley ran a 4.59 40-yard dash.
"I thought I did pretty well today," Eubank said. "I thought I put my best foot forward. I think I really opened some eyes today. Speed isn't really my game, but I thought when I got out there I showed some arm strength and some accuracy, so I thought I did pretty well today."
Place-kicker
Anthony Pistelli made a 60-yard field goal, and was a perfect 8-of-8 from 60 yards or closer. Wide receiver
Gavin Sinclair had an eight-foot, 10-inch broad jump.
