BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team fell at home to Charlotte, 6-1, Friday afternoon at the Samford Tennis Complex.
Charlotte secured the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. On the No. 1 doubles court, Charlotte's Sam Rice and Leonardo Menezes defeated
Jake Faundez and
Hugo Moreira, 6-1. At No. 3 doubles, Oriol Puig Forne and Alejandro Garcia defeated
Justin Ghavami and
Curran Verma, 6-4. The No. 2 doubles match was not completed.
In singles, Moreira earned Samford's lone win in the match. On the No. 6 court, Moreira defeated Jensen Martin, 6-3, 6-4. Charlotte won the singles matches at No. 1, No. 2, No. 3, No. 4 and No. 5.
With the loss, Samford falls to 1-3 on the young season. Charlotte improves to 5-0 with the win.
Samford will return to action on Feb. 10, when the Bulldogs play at Eastern Kentucky.
