AUBURN, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team dropped two matches at Auburn, falling in both by scores of 4-0 Saturday afternoon at the Yarbrough Tennis Center.

"There were a lot of good things that came out of today," Samford head coach Rahim Esmail said. "We competed hard and left it all out there on the court, and by doing this we put ourselves in positions to win on certain courts. I thought we competed well up high today at the top of our line up – I saw a lot of good things out of Justin, Jake, and Eduardo. We let the doubles point slip today. We were in control and did not capitalize on our opportunities. This will make us work harder though, as the guys have been doing a good job of that so far."

In the first match, Samford's No. 2 doubles pair of Max Rebol and Justin Ghavami earned a 6-3 win over Auburn's Edward Nguyen and Dante Saleh. The Tigers, however, won the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches to claim the doubles point.
 
Auburn took victories on singles courts No. 1, No. 5 and No. 6 before the match was called. The No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles matches did not finish in the first match.
 
In the second contest of the day, only singles matches were played. Auburn earned wins at No. 1, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles to pick up the 4-0 victory.
 
With the losses, Samford falls to 2-6 on the season. Auburn improves to 6-4 with the sweep.
 
Samford will return to action on Feb. 24, when the Bulldogs host South Alabama. The match is set for a 2 p.m. start from the Samford Tennis Complex.
