GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Samford men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision at Furman in the Bulldogs' Southern Conference opener Friday afternoon.
Furman swept the doubles matches, winning on the No. 1 court, 6-4, on the No. 2 court, 6-4, and at the No. 3, 6-3.
The Paladins won all six singles matches to sweep the match, 7-0. Matches on courts No. 1-5 were all in straight sets. On the No. 6 court, Samford's
Hugo Moreira won the first set, 6-2, but fell in the final two sets, 6-1, 6-1 to Jake Bhangdia.
With the loss, Samford falls to 4-8 overall and 0-1 in SoCon play. Furman improves to 11-5 overall and 1-0 in league matches.
Samford will play at Wofford Saturday at 4 p.m. The match was originally scheduled for Sunday, but was moved due to expected inclement weather in the Spartanburg area.
