CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The Samford softball team will take on Southern Conference rival Chattanooga in a weekend series on the road, Saturday and Sunday at Frost Stadium.
The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday, beginning at 12 p.m. (CT). The series will conclude with a single game Sunday at 1 p.m. (CT).
Samford comes into the series with a record of 11-24 overall and 1-2 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs are coming off a 9-1 loss to Kennesaw State Wednesday evening. Samford opened SoCon play by dropping two-of-three to Furman last weekend.
Samford has been led at the plate by Shelby Maze, batting .463 with 57 hits, which leads the SoCon and ranks second in the nation. Abby Sweeney is hitting .323 with a team-high six home runs and a team-high 29 RBI.
Madison Couch enters the weekend with a .313 average. Abbie Miranda and Hannah Trombley have driven in 23 runs each for the Bulldogs so far this season.
In the circle, Jessica Stone has a 5-4 record and a 3.76 ERA. Grey Adams has posted a 3.18 ERA, and she has recorded a team-high 69 strikeouts.
Chattanooga enters the weekend with a record of 11-22 overall and 1-2 in league games. The Mocs are coming off a 6-5 win at Tennessee State Wednesday evening. UTC opened SoCon play by falling in two-of-three games at Mercer last weekend.
