SOCON TOURNAMENT BRACKET 

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team earned a 7-0 win over The Citadel in the final regular-season match for both teams Saturday at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 7-11 overall and 3-4 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs have earned the No. 6 seed for next week's Southern Conference Tournament. Samford will take on the No. 3 seed, Mercer in Friday's opening round. The Citadel falls to 11-29 overall and 1-5 in SoCon play. The Citadel is the No. 7 seed, and will play the No. 2 seed, Furman Friday afternoon.
 
"Today was a good way for us to finish off the regular season," Samford head coach Rahim Esmail said. "I think we are playing some of our best tennis right now, and that's what you want to be doing at this time of the year, heading in to the SoCon Tournament next weekend. We will look to build on the momentum we have gained this past week and carry that into next weekend with a lot of confidence."
 
Samford swept the three doubles matches to earn the first point of the match. At No. 1 doubles, Jake Faundez and Justin Ghavami defeated Michael Anzalone and W. Jacobus von Zyl, 6-1. On the No. 2 doubles court, Max Rebol and Curran Verma earned a 6-3 win over Matthew Henson and Roy Hobson. At No. 3 doubles, Eduardo Lourido Sanchez and Hugo Moreira defeated Connor Grady and Noah Nawabi, 6-0.
 
In singles, Samford swept all six matches in straight sets. At No. 1 singles, Ghavami defeated Anzalone, 6-3, 7-5. At No. 2 singles, Faundez downed Nawabi, 6-2, 6-3. On the No. 3 singles court, Lourido Sanchez defeated Henson, 7-6, 6-4.
 
At No. 4 singles, Rebol defeated Hobson, 6-2, 6-3. On the No. 5 singles court, Verma earned a 6-3, 7-5 win over Isaac Stolar. Moreira defeated Jack Pyritz, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 6 singles.
 
Samford's matchup with Mercer in the first round of the SoCon Tournament is scheduled for Friday at 12 p.m. (CT) in Greenville, S.C.
