GAME NOTES
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford softball team will play at cross-town rival UAB Tuesday night a 6 p.m. at Mary Bowers Field.
Samford enters the week with a record of 19-27 overall and 7-5 in Southern Conference play. The Bulldogs dropped two-of-three games at UNCG over the weekend. Samford dropped the first two games (9-1 in 5 inn., 9-3), before coming back to take game three (5-2).
At the plate, Samford has been led so far this season by center fielder
Shelby Maze, who leads the SoCon and is tied for the national lead in hits with 71. She also leads the SoCon in batting with a .430 average.
Madison Couch is hitting .315 entering Tuesday night's game.
Abby Sweeney is hitting .305 with a team-high seven home runs and a team-high 31 RBI.
Hannah Trombley and
Abbie Miranda have 28 RBI each.
Whitney Hinton was named the SoCon's Player of the Week Monday. She hit .563 with four doubles, two RBI and four runs scores in five games last week.

Jessica Stone has a team-leading 8-5 record, to go along with her 3.15 ERA.
Grey Adams has a team-best 3.12 ERA, and a team-best 96 strikeouts. Adams has a record of 8-11.
UAB comes into the game with a record of 15-27 overall and 7-8 in Conference USA play. The Blazers won two-of-three games from North Texas over the weekend. UAB won the first two games by scores of 3-2 and 2-1, before dropping game three, 1-0.
Samford and UAB have played 32 previous times, with UAB holding a 26-6 advantage in the series. The teams played earlier this season in the Samford/UAB Classic at the Samford Softball Stadium, with the Blazers taking a 10-2 victory over the Bulldogs.
