BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford softball team will play host to ETSU in a three-game Southern Conference series this weekend at the Samford Softball Stadium. The teams will play a doubleheader Saturday at 1 p.m., and a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
Samford enters the week with a record of 14-24 overall and 4-2 in Southern Conference play so far this season. The Bulldogs are coming off a weekend Southern Conference series sweep at Chattanooga. The Bulldogs earned wins by scores of 4-3, 5-0 and 11-6 in 10 innings.
At the plate, Samford has been led so far this season by center fielder
Shelby Maze, who leads the SoCon and ranks second nationally in hits with 61. She also leads the SoCon in batting with a .442 average.
Madison Couch is hitting .317.
Abby Sweeney is hitting .302 with a team-high six home runs and a team-high 30 RBI.
Hannah Trombley has 28 RBI, while
Abbie Miranda has 25 RBI.

Jessica Stone has a team-leading 6-4 record, to go along with her 3.37 ERA.
Grey Adams has a team-best 3.20 ERA, and a team-best 74 strikeouts. Adams has a record of 6-9.
ETSU comes into the weekend with a record of 16-17 overall and 2-1 in SoCon games. The Bucs won two-of-three games at Mercer last weekend. ETSU dropped the first game, 2-0, and then won the last two games by scores of 2-1 and 2-0.
Samford and ETSU have played seven previous times, with Samford holding a 6-1 advantage in the series. Last season, Samford won two-of-three games against the Bucs. Samford won game one (4-1) and game three (12-0), and dropped the middle game (2-1).
