CHICAGO -- Samford's 
Krista Boesing tallied a match-high 18 kills Friday on the opening day of play in the 2017 Rambler Challenge, but the Bulldogs suffered a 3-0 (27-25, 25-17, 25-21) defeat against the Milwaukee Panthers in the nightcap of the four-team, three-day competition being held at Gentile Arena on the campus of Loyola-Chicago.
 
Samford (1-3) will next be in action Saturday at 11 a.m. (CT) as the Bulldogs square off against Fairfield.
 
Milwaukee (4-2) was paced by both Caitlin Schultz and Bridge Wallenberger who finished with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. The Panthers' Jenn Dore accumulated a match-high 37 assists.
 
The Bulldogs' Boesing led all players with 18 kills Friday and also added 15 digs. Junior 
Taylor Anderton finished with 32 assists, while sophomore 
Grace Tiesman registered 12 digs.
 
Following this weekend's 2017 Rambler Challenge, the Samford University volleyball team will next be in action Sept. 8, at 9 a.m. (CT) as the Bulldogs begin play in the highly-talented New Mexico State Invite to be held in Las Cruces, N.M.
