BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford women's tennis team will host Kennesaw State to open the spring season Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Samford Tennis Center.
Samford will field an experienced team this spring, led by seniors
Ellie Gerlach (12-10 in 2017) and
Savannah Wood (8-9). Also returning to the lineup are sophomores
Arianna Beltrame (11-10),
Nadine de Villiers (4-9),
Grace Jennings (6-6),
Elsa Pool (10-12) and
Amanda Kilduff.
A pair of transfers join the team this season. Senior
Roos van der Zwaan came to Samford after three seasons at Auburn, while sophomore
Holly Horsfall transferred to Samford from Middle Tennessee.
In the spring of 2017, Samford posted a record of 13-10 overall and 4-3 in Southern Conference matches. The Bulldogs reached the semifinals of the SoCon Tournament.
Samford and Kennesaw State met early in the spring last season as well. The Bulldogs earned a 7-0 victory over the Owls in the 2017 match.
