BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team earned an impressive 3-0 (25-23, 25-21, 25-18) win over UNCG Friday evening at the Pete Hanna Center. With the win, Samford improves to 13-12 overall and 8-3 in Southern Conference play. UNCG falls to 10-14 overall and 4-8 in league matches.
 
KEY MOMENTS

• The first set was tight early until Samford was able to grab a 15-10 lead, forcing a UNCG timeout.
• UNCG fought back to take a 23-22 lead, but Samford scored the next three points to take the set, 25-23.
• The second set was a back-and-forth contest throughout.
• With the match tied at 21-21, the Bulldogs scored four-straight points to take the 25-21 set victory.
• Samford jumped out to a 17-9 lead in the third set.
• The Spartans could get no closer than five points the rest of the way as Samford pulled out the 25-18 set win and the 3-0 match victory.

• Samford was led by Kelsi Hobbs with 12 kills and eight digs in the win.
• Krista Boesing had 11 kills, while Shayla Phillip added 10.
• Lauren Deaton produced eight kills and 14 digs.
• Taylor Anderton had 37 assists in the win.
