BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team will open Southern Conference play by hosting ETSU Friday at 2 p.m., and then the Bulldogs will host Eastern Kentucky in a non-conference match Sunday at 2 p.m.
Samford enters the weekend with a record of 4-4. The Bulldogs are coming off a 6-1 loss at Southern Mississippi last Friday.
Jake Faundez has played at the No. 1 singles position for Samford so far this season, compiling a record of 3-3.
Justin Ghavami has played mostly at the No. 2 position, with an overall record of 5-3 (5-2 at No. 2, 0-1 at No. 1).
Eduardo Lourido has played on the No. 3 singles court, with a record of 2-3.
Roussow Norval has a singles record of 3-4 (2-4 at No. 4, 1-0 at No. 3).
Aleksandar Petrovic has a mark of 4-2 (3-1 at No. 5, 1-1 at No. 4).
Max Rebol is 3-4 at No. 6, while
Hugo Moreira is 1-2 at No. 5.
ETSU enters Friday's match with a record of 5-4 overall and 1-0 in Southern Conference play. The Bucs are coming off a 6-1 win over UNCG last Saturday.
Eastern Kentucky is currently 4-9 on the season. The Colonels are coming off a 5-2 win over Campbellsville last Saturday.
Both matches are scheduled for a 2 p.m. start at the Samford Tennis Center. Admission to both matches is FREE.
