CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. – The fifth-seeded Samford men's tennis team was eliminated from the Southern Conference Tournament with a 4-0 loss to top-seeded ETSU in a semifinal match Saturday morning at The Champions Club.
ETSU won the doubles matches at No. 1 and No. 2 to earn the first point of the match. The match at No. 3 doubles was tied at 6-6 between Samford's Max Rebol and Eduardo Lourido, and ETSU's Sergi Fontcuberta and David Gonzalez when the doubles point was decided.
In singles, ETSU picked up wins at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 6 to finish off the 4-0 win. The matches at No. 2, No. 4 and No. 5 were not finished.
With the loss, Samford ends its season with a record of 11-11. ETSU improves to 15-7, and the Bucs will play for the SoCon title in Sunday's championship match.
