OXFORD, Miss. – The Samford volleyball team dropped a pair of matches on the first day of the Rebel Invitational, hosted by Ole Miss Friday. In the first match of the day, Samford fell to the host Ole Miss Rebels, 3-0 (18-25, 15-25, 20-25). Samford then dropped a 3-1 (25-23, 20-25, 18-25, 9-25) decision to Arkansas-Little Rock.

KEY MOMENTS
- In the first set, Ole Miss came out hot, scoring the first eight points.
- With Ole Miss leading, 13-3, Samford went on a 12-3 run to cut the lead to one at 16-15.
- Samford, however, could not get over the hump as Ole Miss came away with the 25-18 win.
- The second set was tight early, but with Ole Miss leading, 4-3 the Rebels went on a 7-1 run to take an 11-4 lead.
- Samford fought back to cut the lead to four twice, but the Bulldogs could get no closer as Ole Miss captured the 25-15 set win.
- In the third set, Ole Miss took an early 8-3 lead.
- Samford, however, came back to cut the lead to two at 16-14.
- Ole Miss would not surrender the lead, however, and the Rebels picked up the 25-20 set win, and the 3-0 match victory.

KEY MOMENTS
- The first set was tight throughout with neither team able to build more than a four-point lead.
- The teams were tied at 23-23, when Samford used kills by Deaton and Hobbs to pull out the 25-23 win.
- In the second set, UALR scored the first seven points to grab the early lead.
- Samford fought back to cut the lead to one at 16-15, but could get no closer as UALR pulled out the 25-20 win.
- Little Rock grabbed an early 8-4 lead in the third set of the match.
- The Trojans built their lead to as many as nine points and eventually pulled out the 25-18 victory.
- UALR controlled the fourth set from early on, building an early 12-6 lead.
- With Little Rock leading, 12-8, the Trojans scored 13 of the final 14 points to end with a 25-9 set win, and a 3-1 match victory.

- Deaton led Samford with 12 kills.
- Boesing followed with nine kills.
- Grace Tiesman tallied 16 digs to lead the Bulldogs.
- Anderton finished the match with 29 assists.
