GREENSBORO, N.C. – For the second-straight match, the Samford volleyball team fell behind, 2-0, and forced a fifth set, but this time the Bulldogs eventually fell, 3-2 (22-25, 16-25, 25-18, 25-23, 12-15) at UNCG Saturday afternoon. With the loss, Samford falls to 8-10 overall and 3-1 in Southern Conference play.
KEY MOMENTS
- In the first set, UNCG jumped out to an early 10-5 lead.
- Samford fought back to cut the lead to just two at 24-22, but the Spartans closed out the set with a 25-22 victory.
- The second set was close early until UNCG was able to pull away to take a 15-10 lead.
- Samford could get no closer than four points the rest of the set as UNCG took the 25-16 win.
- In the third set, Samford jumped out to a 10-5 lead.
- Samford led the entire way in set three and pulled out the 25-18 victory.
- The fourth set was tight until, with the score tied at 14-14, Samford used a 5-0 run to take a 19-14 lead.
- UNCG fought back to tie the score at 20-20, but Samford was able to pull out the 25-23 set win.
- In the fifth set, Samford took an 11-8 lead.
- UNCG, however, scored seven of the next eight points to take the 15-12 set win and the 3-2 match victory.
