ATHENS, Ohio. – The Samford volleyball team split a pair of five-set matches at the Bobcat Invitational Friday. The Bulldogs opened the day with a 3-2 loss to the host, Ohio, and then earned a 3-2 victory over IUPUI.

KEY MOMENTS
- In the first set, after Ohio scored the first three points, Samford came back to take a 17-13 lead.
- Samford pushed its lead to as many as six points at 21-15.
- Ohio fought back to tie the score at 25-25, but Samford scored the final two points to take the 27-25 win.
- Ohio jumped out to an early 6-3 lead in the second set.
- Samford fought back to take an 18-16 lead.
- Ohio came back to knot the score at 24-24, but a kill by Kelsi Hobbs and an Ohio attack error gave Samford the 26-24 win.
- Samford led early in the third set until Ohio used a 9-4 run to take a 21-18 lead.
- Samford could not catch up after that, eventually falling in the third set, 25-22.
- In the fourth set, Ohio raced out to a 19-10 lead over Samford.
- Samford fought back to take a 25-24 lead, but Ohio scored the next three points to take the 27-25 win.
- In the final set, Ohio took a five-point lead at 12-7.
- Samford fought back to cut the lead to two at 13-11, but Ohio pulled out the 15-11 set win and the 3-2 match victory.

- The first set was neck-and-neck early on until IUPUI took a 20-15 lead.
- Samford closed to within three points at 23-20, but the Bulldogs eventually fell, 25-21.
- Samford jumped out to an early 7-3 lead in the second set.
- With Samford leading, 9-5, the Bulldogs went on a 13-3 run to take a 22-8 lead.
- Samford took the second set by a score of 25-10.
- The third set was tight throughout, with neither team able to build more than a three-point lead.
- With Samford leading, 24-23, IUPUI scored the final three points to take the 26-24 win.
- In the fourth set, with Samford trailing, 13-12, the Bulldogs went on an 11-1 run to take a 23-14 lead.
- Samford came away with the 25-15 fourth-set win.
- The fifth set was close early.
- With Samford leading, 3-2, the Bulldogs went on a 12-1 run to take the 15-3 set win, and the 3-2 match win.

- Boesing and Hobbs shared the team lead in kills with 19 each.
- Tiesman led the team in digs with 29.
- Anderton contributed 52 assists to the Samford cause.
