BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team earned a 6-1 win over Alabama A&M Friday evening at the Samford Tennis Center.
 
With the win, Samford improves to 4-4 on the season. Alabama A&M falls to 0-3 with the loss.
 
"It wasn't pretty today, but sometimes that's how you have to find ways to win," Samford head coach Rahim Esmail said. "It is good for us to have to find ways to win when we are not at our best, because we will definitely have to find a way to do that again at some point down the road this season. We did a very good job with the doubles today – our energy was much better and made the difference."
 
Samford swept the three doubles matches to secure the first point of the match. Alabama A&M took the win on the No. 1 singles court, but Samford came back to take victories on No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles to close out the 6-1 win.
 
Samford will play at Kennesaw State Saturday. The match is set for a 1 p.m. (CT) start from Kennesaw, Ga.
