Johnston Wins Southern Conference Field Athlete of the Week Award
 
SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford track and field's Maggie Johnston was named the Southern Conference's Field Athlete of the Week on Wednesday.
 
Selections were made and decided upon by panels consisting of the Southern Conference's men's and women's track and field coaches.
 
Johnston, a sophomore, threw a long distance of 13.59 meters in the women's shot put on Sunday at the Jaguar Invite. The performance was a career personal best for Johnston and earned her fifth in the event.
 
The Samford track and field team as a whole will be back in action when they host the Bulldog Invite this Friday, February 8^th at the Birmingham Crossplex.
