Emily Uhland was chosen as the Southern Conference's Golfer of the Week when the league released its weekly women's golf awards Wednesday afternoon.
Uhland turned in a strong performance at the Spring Break Shootout, Monday and Tuesday in Dade City, Fla. She placed sixth out of 87 players, and finished with a one-over-par score of 214 (70-72-72). Her first-round score of 70 was her lowest round of the season, and it tied for the lowest round of her Samford career.
Uhland led a team effort that saw the Bulldogs finish fourth out of 15 teams in the event. The team finished with a three-round score of 869 (287-293-289).
For the season, Uhland leads the team with a 75.41 stroke average in 17 rounds of golf. The sixth-place finish marked her first top-10 finish of the season and the fourth of her collegiate career.
Uhland and the Bulldogs will return to action March 17-19, when Samford competes in the Bobby Nicholls Intercollegiate in Sevierville, Tenn.
