TUCSON, Ariz. – The Samford volleyball team earned a 3-2 (25-22, 18-25, 25-21, 18-25, 15-12) win over the 24
th-ranked Arizona Wildcats on the final day of the Cactus Classic, hosted by Arizona. The win marked the first time Samford has ever defeated a ranked opponent.

KEY MOMENTS
- In the first set, Samford jumper out to an early 5-1 lead, but Arizona scored the next four points to knot the score at 5-5.
- Samford took the lead again at 13-10.
- Samford built its lead to five at 21-16, and the Bulldogs held on for the 25-22 set win.
- The second set was tight early until, with the score tied, 13-13, Arizona went on a 7-2 run to take a 20-15 lead.
- The Wildcats won the set, 25-18.
- In the third set Arizona jumped out to an early 8-4 lead, but Samford fought back to tie the match at 13-13.
- Samford built a five-point lead at 21-16, and came away with the set victory, 25-21.
- Arizona led throughout the fourth set, building as much as a six-point lead at 21-15.
- The Wildcats won the fourth set, 25-18.
- In the fifth set, after Samford fell behind, 3-2, the Bulldogs went on an 8-2 run to take a 10-5 lead.
- After Arizona came back to cut the lead to 13-12, Samford scored the final two points of the match to take the 15-12 victory.
