BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team earned a 3-0 (25-15, 25-20, 25-14) win over North Alabama on the first day of the Samford Invitational at the Pete Hanna Center.

KEY MOMENTS

• In the first set, Samford jumped out to an early 10-6 lead.
• The Bulldogs built their lead to eight points at 20-12.
• With Samford leading, 21-14, the Bulldogs scored four of the last five points of the set to pull away for the 25-15 win.
• Samford raced out to a 12-6 lead in the second set.
• North Alabama fought back to cut the lead to two points at 15-13.
• Samford built its lead back out to six at 23-17, and the Bulldogs won the set, 25-20.
• The third set was tight early until Samford used a 6-0 run to take a 14-7 lead.
• The Bulldogs led the rest of the way and came away with the 25-14 set win and the 3-0 match victory.

• Lauren Deaton led the team in kills with 14.
• Kelsi Hobbs tallied 12 kills and six digs for the Bulldogs.
• Gracie Tiesman also had 12 kills for Samford.
• Corinne Meglic had 41 assists for Samford.
• Emily Naubert led Samford in digs with 10.

Samford (2-2) will play a pair of matches Saturday to wrap up the Samford Invitational. The Bulldogs will take on Jacksonville State at 12:30 p.m., and then take on UAB at 7:30 p.m. Admission to all matches is FREE.
