SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford junior quarterback Chris Oladokun earned his second Southern Conference Offensive Player of the Week presented by GEICO honor already this season when the league released its weekly football awards Monday morning.
Oladokun made his first start for Samford Saturday night and led the team to a 21-14 win at No. 21 Wofford. He led the team in both passing and rushing in the win. He completed 17-of-25 passes for 224 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed for 77 yards, including a 30-yard run for the eventual game-winning touchdown in the third quarter.
For the season, Oladokun leads the Southern Conference and ranks second nationally in pass efficiency (221.5). He also leads the league in total offense per game (306.0 ypg.)
Oladokun and the Bulldogs will play their home opener Saturday evening when the team hosts Alabama A&M. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start from Seibert Stadium.
