BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford junior quarterback
Chris Oladokun received national recognition for his performance in Saturday night's game at Tennessee Tech when both STATS and the College Football Performance Awards (CFPA) named him an honorable mention National FCS Offensive Player of the Week.
In Saturday night's contest, Oladokun tied school records for touchdown passes with six and touchdowns responsible for with seven. He completed touchdown passes from 80, 64, 35, 30, 25 and 25 yards out in the game, and he scored on a nine-yard run. Oladokun completed 19-of-24 passes (79.2%) for a career-high 428 yards, and he rushed seven times for 42 yards.
Over Samford's two games so far this season, Oladokun has led 13 drives and Samford has scored on 12 of those drives, including 10-for-10 in the Tennessee Tech game.
Oladokun and the Bulldogs will take this week off from competition before opening Southern Conference play at Wofford Sept. 14. The game is scheduled for a 5 p.m. (CT) start from Gibbs Stadium in Spartanburg, S.C.
