NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Samford baseball team wrapped up its weekend in the SAF Dirt Classic by earning a 7-3 win at Lipscomb Sunday afternoon at Dugan Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Samford plated a run in the first inning and two in the second inning to take an early 3-1 lead.
- Lipscomb tied the game at 3-3 with a run in the third inning and another in the fourth inning.
- Samford used the long ball to pull away in the late innings.
- In the seventh inning, Brooks Carlson hit a three-run home run to give the Bulldogs a 6-3 lead.
- Ayrton Schafer added a solo homer in the eighth inning for the 7-3 win.
ON THE MOUND
- Eric Sottile (2-0) pitched 3.2 innings in relief, giving up no runs on just one hit to earn the win on the mound for Samford.
- Gavin Grubbs (1-1) pitched 3.0 innings in relief, allowing three runs on three hits to take the loss for the Bisons.
NOTABLES
- Schafer went 2-for-5 with a home run and an RBI to lead Samford at the plate.
- Will David went 2-for-2 with an RBI.
- Carlson homered and drove in three runs in a 1-for-3 performance.
