BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team returns to road action following a brief home stint to face The Citadel and Wofford in the second half of Southern Conference play this weekend.
Th Bulldogs are coming off a dominant 3-0 win against Furman in their return to the Pete Hanna Center following a five-match road trip.
Lauren Deaton led the way against the Paladins with 12 kills and six digs, while
Kayla Keshock set the offense recording 39 assists and seven digs.
Gracie Lynn Butler, a 6-1 true freshman, had a breakout match against Furman recording nine total kills against the Paladins. Three of Butler's nine kills came in the final moments of the third set, where she saved three set points preserving the 3-0 sweep for the Bulldogs.

- The Citadel
- Since 2008 Samford has held a commanding lead in the Bulldogs versus Bulldogs matchup with a 20-2 record. Samford took the previous matchup at home earlier this season three sets to one.
- Wofford
- The Terriers and Bulldogs have met 25 times since the Bulldogs joined the SoCon in 2008, with Samford holding a 20-5 advantage. Samford is riding a six-match win streak having topped the Terriers in straight sets at home earlier this season.
BULLDOGS TO WATCH
- Lauren Deaton has recorded 188 kills in 16 matches played this season, with 137 digs and 13 service aces. Deaton led the way offensively for the Bulldogs' 3-0 win over Furman last Friday notching 12 kills on the night to lead all scorers.
- Emily Naubert has been foundation for the Bulldogs defensively since coming to The Magic City in 2019. Thus far this season, Naubert has recorded 157 digs and 28 service aces. She had five aces against Furman, including a dart that set up match point for the Bulldogs in Friday's sweep of the visitors from Greenville, S.C.
- Kayla Keshock recorded 39 assists in Friday's victory, and has recorded 586 on the season adding 28 kills of her own in the Bulldog offense.
OPPONENT QUICK LOOKS:
- The Citadel is currently fourth in the SoCon with a record of 4-4 in conference play. The Charleston Bulldogs are led by fifth year senior outside hitter Sharlissa de Jesus who leads the team with 214 kills on the season, while junior libero Kenzie Kellerman holds down the defense 230 digs thus far in 2021.
- The Terriers are 10-10 on the season and 4-4 in conference play entering the week. Wofford's Sarah Barham ranks second in the league in blocks with 79 on the season, while Meghan Yaffa leads the way offensively with 192 kills.
