Bulldogs Face Lipscomb In Road Contest Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team will head to Nashville, Tennessee to compete against Lipscomb University on Saturday, February 13 at 5 p.m.
 
After a 7-0 win against Alabama State, the Bulldogs improve their overall record to 3-4. Lipscomb has competed in a total of three games this season for a record of 2-1. The Bisons found their first win against Tennessee State this past Sunday which ended in a 6-0 result. Lipscomb will also face fellow SoCon team, Chattanooga, the Friday before Samford is set to play the Bisons.

  • Tomas Santantonio now carries a record of 4-2, the most wins in singles play so far this season, after defeating his most recent opponent, ASU's Luka Markovic, 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 5 spot.
  • Eladio Fabregas matches Santantonio with four wins for an overall record of 4-3 this season. Fabregas has seen two wins at both the No. 2 and No. 3 spot. His most recent victory came against ASU's Assil Boussayri at court three with a final score of 6-3, 6-2.
  • Tomas Santantonio and Eladio Fabregas also hold a perfect 4-0 record at the No. 2 spot in doubles play, while partners Victor Chaw and Jim Hendrix hold a 3-0 record with two wins coming from the No. 1 spot and one from the No. 2 spot.
 
NEWS:
  • Rossouw Norval was named SoCon Player of the Week after his impressive performance against Alabama State. Norval defeated Chris Andre 6-2, 2-6, 6-0 at the No. 1 spot in singles and defeated Ruan Du Preez and Assil Bousayr 6-2 in doubles with his partner Mohammed Ali Bellalouna.
  • Samford is looking to continue its winning streak. The Bulldogs have captured three-straight wins and are now looking for their fourth.
