Bulldogs Shine in Regular Season Finale

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford track and field had a strong performance in their regular season finale, Friday.
Jose Penalver, who set a meet record last weekend at the Jaguar Invite, broke the program record in the men's 800m run with a time of 1:49.14. The record was previously owned by former assistant coach, Brandon Hazouri. Penalver is ranked twelfth in the nation in the men's 800-meter run heading into the Southern Conference Championships.
Allie Nelson had a first-place finish for the Bulldogs in the women's 3000-meter run (9:58.75). Morayo Bhadmos continued her dominance in the women's triple jump with another first-place finish with a leap of 12.06 meters. Katie Strozier also earned 10 points for the Bulldogs with a first-place finish in the women's 800m run. Strozier, a staple for the Bulldogs in the middle-distance events crossed the line with a time of 2:13.14. Samford swept the women's pole vault with Tally Wilson earning the first-place points with a vault of 3.65 meters.
Justin Stuckey notched a career best in the men's high jump with a leap of 2.14 meters. Stuckey is ranked sixteenth in the country in the men's high jump, as the team prepares for the 2021 Southern Conference Indoor Championships.
Women's Track:
Several Bulldogs will compete in tomorrow's Bulldog Open event in preparation for the 2021 Southern Conference Championships on February 27-28.
