BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford soccer team earned its first win of the 2021 spring season with a 3-0 victory over Western Carolina Friday night at the Samford Track and Soccer Stadium.
With the win, Samford improves to 1-1-2 overall and 1-0-1 in Southern Conference play. Western Carolina falls to 2-4 overall and 1-2 in league play.
KEY PLAYS
- Alex Bice gave Samford the lead when she dribbled through four defenders to net her first goal of the season in the 31st minute of the match.
- Taylor Yount took a cross from Layla Brown into the box and scored her second goal of the season in the 62nd minute for a 2-0 Samford lead.
- Ella Simpson scored her first career goal in the 82nd minute to make the score 3-0.

- Samford goalkeeper Morgan McAslan had three saves in posting the shutout for the Bulldogs.
- Yount led Samford with four shots, with three coming on goal, and the one goal.
