STARKVILLE, Miss. – The Samford baseball team dropped a 10-2 decision at second-ranked Mississippi State Tuesday night at Dudy-Noble Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mississippi State put the game's first run on the board in the third inning when Rowdey Jordan doubled to left field to drive in Josh Hatcher for a 1-0 MSU lead.
- In the bottom of the fourth inning, MSU's Luke Hancock hit a two-run homer and Hatcher hit a solo home run for a 4-0 Mississippi State lead.
- Mississippi State added six runs in the sixth inning to push the Bulldogs' lead to 10-0.
- In the top of the seventh inning, Samford got on the scoreboard when Colton Ledbetter singled to left field to drive in Towns King to cut the lead to 10-1.
- Samford's Taylor Garris scored on a wild pitch in the eighth inning to make the score 10-2.
ON THE MOUND
- Blake Bortak (0-1) pitched 3.0 innings, giving up one run on one hit to take the loss for Samford.
- Brandon Smith (3-0) earned the win for Mississippi State, tossing 1.2 hitless innings of relief.

- Garrett Howe went 2-for-4 to lead Samford at the plate.
