BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford baseball team dropped a 5-1 decision to ETSU in the final game of a three-game series Saturday afternoon at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• ETSU took an early lead with a run in the top of the second inning.
• The Bucs added two runs in the sixth inning and two more in the seventh to push their lead to 5-0.
• Samford got on the scoreboard when Kaden Dreier scored when Taylor Garris reached on a fielder's choice in the bottom of the seventh inning to cut the lead to 5-1.

 
ON THE MOUND

• Zach Hester (1-2) pitched 5.0 innings, allowing one run on one hit to take the loss for the Bulldogs.
• Nathaniel Tate (2-2) tossed 6.1 innings, allowing one run on three hits to earn the win for the Bucs.
• Matthew Bollenbacher picked up his first save of the season, pitching the final 2.2 innings, giving up just one hit.

 
NOTABLES 

• For Samford at the plate, Garrett Howe, Brooks Carlson, Kaden Dreier and Ryan Crockett had one hit each.
• For ETSU, Ashton King went 2-for-4 with two RBI, while Ethan Cady hit a two-run home run in a 1-for-4 performance at the plate.
