BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford baseball team dropped a 14-3 decision to Toledo in the second game of a three-game series Saturday afternoon at Joe Lee Griffin Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Samford took an early 2-0 lead with two runs in the first inning.
- After Toledo tied the score with two runs in the fourth inning, the Bulldogs took a 3-2 lead with a run in the bottom of the fifth inning.
- Toledo took control of the game with seven runs in the top of the sixth inning, taking a 9-3 lead.
- The Rockets added three runs in the eighth inning and two more in the ninth to make the final score 14-3.
ON THE MOUND
- Jesse McCord (0-2) pitched 5.1 innings, allowing six runs, five earned, on six hits to take the loss for the Bulldogs.
- Jordan Powers (1-1) tossed 6.0 innings, allowing three runs on five hits to earn the win for the Rockets.
- Layne Schnitz-Paxton picked up his first save of the season, tossing the final 3.0 innings of the game.
NOTABLES
- For Samford, Towns King went 2-for-4 with two RBI.
- Toledo was led by Mason Sykes, going 2-for-4 with two home runs and seven RBI.
