BIRMINGHAM, Ala.  – The Samford men's tennis team fell, 4-2, in a hard-fought contest to Furman in the Southern Conference Tournament Semifinals on Friday afternoon at the Hoover Met Complex.

The Bulldogs had no trouble in doubles play with No. 33 Victor Chaw and Jim Hendrikx grabbing the first win of the day with a dominant 6-0 victory at the No. 1 spot over Furman's Jake Bhangdia and Henrik Atlevi. Doubles dou, Tomas Santantonio and Eladio Fabregas, eventually clinched the early point for Samford with a 6-4 win after battling Benjamin Cahill and Ivan Mitric on court two. Rossouw Norval and Mohammed Ali Bellalouna were one point away from defeating their opponents, Drew Singerman and Emil Westling, on the next court over, however, the match would be marked as unfinished to push the contest into singles.
 
Jim Hendrikx captured the Bulldogs lone victory in singles action with a quick, 6-2, 6-2, straight-set victory at the No. 4 spot against Emil Westling. The Paladins responded on court six with James Roelofse locking in a 7-5, 6-1, victory over Mohammed Ali Bellalouna for Furman's first point of the match. The Paladins would then notch the match at 2-2 after Rossouw Norval dropped a 6-4, 6-1 decision to Ivan Mitric at the No. 1 spot. Henrik Atlevi followed with a 7-6 first set win and a 6-2 set two victory to give Furman a slight 3-2 lead over Samford. The match would be officially clinched for the Paladibns with a 6-1, 6-2 win from Drew Singerman as the match went unfinished for Victor Chaw on court two.
