SPARTANBURG, S.C. – The Southern Conference released its postseason baseball awards Tuesday, and three Samford players were among those being honored.
 
First baseman Sonny DiChiara and designated hitter Tyler McManus were both named second team All-SoCon by both the coaches and media. Closer Chase Isbell also earned All-Freshman team honors.
 
DiChiara is tied for the SoCon lead and is tied for 32^nd in the nation in home runs with 14. He also leads the league and is tied for 14^th nationally in walks with 45. DiChiara finished the regular season with a .264 batting average with nine doubles, 14 home runs and 39 RBI.
 
McManus leads the team with a .327 batting average and 48 RBI. He is also tied for the team lead in doubles with 12, and he is tied for second on the squad in home runs with 11. McManus leads the team in multi-RBI games with 14 so far this season.
 
Isbell is currently tied for second in the SoCon in saves with seven. He has a 3-2 record with a 2.40 ERA in 30.0 innings of work. Isbell also ranks second on the team and is tied for fifth in the SoCon in appearances with 25.
 
Wofford outfielder Collin Davis was chosen as the SoCon Player of the Year, while the Terriers' Elliot Carney was named the league's Pitcher of the Year. VMI's Justin Starke earned Freshman of the Year honors, while Wofford's Todd Interdonato was selected as the league's Coach of the Year.
 
Samford posted a record of 32-22 overall and 20-10 in SoCon play this season, finishing second overall and first in the Blue Division. The No. 2-seeded Bulldogs will take on the No. 3 seed Mercer in the first round of the SoCon Tournament Thursday at 6 p.m. (CT) at Fluor Field in Greenville, S.C.
