BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford men's tennis team made positive strides in the second Samford Fall Invitational, hosted this weekend at the Pat M. Courington Tennis Pavillion.
"The guys made a significant improvement this weekend in a lot of areas from the first tournament we played," Samford head coach
Oliver Reynolds said. "We are looking forward for more progress in certain areas, but we have a lot of positives to take away from this event."
Samford players competed against players from North Alabama, UAB and Alabama State in this weekend's event.
Individually,
Mohammed Ali Bellalouna led the team with three singles wins and two doubles victories.
Martin Schwartzman won two singles matches and one doubles match.
J.B. Pickard and
Darcy Nicholls earned two singles wins each.
Santiago Arrendondo won one singles match and two doubles matches.
Will Gray earned one singles victory, while
Matthew Gooch took one doubles win.
Samford will next compete in the Alabama Invitational, Oct. 13-18 in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
