Volleyball to Conclude Regular-Season Play at Mercer and Wofford This Week

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford Volleyball team will play the final two matches of its 2022 regular-season slate this week, traveling to Mercer on Wednesday and to Wofford on Friday.
 
The Bulldog's contest at Mercer is set for a 6:00 p.m. (CST) first serve while their match at Wofford will begin at 5:00 p.m. (CST). Both matches will be streamed live on ESPN+.
 
Samford comes into the week looking to build off the success of last weekend. The Bulldogs knocked off Furman 3-1 and The Citadel 3-0 in their last two home games of the season.
 
Kenya McQuirter led the Bulldogs with 26 kills over the weekend, logging 17 against Furman and nine against The Citadel Kate Morgan registered 26 digs, while Lauren Deaton added 24 digs to go along with 16 kills.
 
Kayla Keshock logged nine aces last weekend, boosting her to the top of the league in both total aces (45) and aces per set (0.49)

The reigning SoCon Defensive Player of the Month, Morgan leads the conference with an average of 4.65 digs per set. She also ranks second in the league in both total service aces (44) and aces per set (0.47).
 
The Bulldogs continue their postseason push, coming into the week ranking second in SoCon standings. They sit three games behind top-seeded ETSU and hold a one-game lead over third-place Western Carolina.
 
Samford leads the SoCon in four different team stats. The Bulldogs rank atop the league in hitting percentage (.232), assists per set (12.38), kills per set (13.94), and Aces per set (2.03)
 
The Bulldogs rank 6th nationally with an average of 2.03 service aces per set and are one of just six D-I teams in the country to average two or more aces per set.
 
The Bulldogs have saved their best performances for conference play, where they are averaging a SoCon-best 14.78 kills per set, 17.18 digs per set, 2.10 services aces per set, and a .246 hitting percentage.
 
Middle blockers Kate Wonus (.291) and Greer Golden (.286) come into the week ranking fourth and fifth in the SoCon in hitting percentage.
 
McQuirter ranks second in the league in kills per set (3.86) while Keshock sits third in assists per set (8.97). Morgan ranks second in the conference in aces per set (0.47) while Deaton sits eighth (0.33).
 
McQuirter has put up the best attacking numbers in SoCon play, averaging a league-best 4.24 kills per set versus conference competition. Golden ranks second with a .337 hitting percentage in SoCon action.
 
Samford picked up a 3-0 sweep over Mercer on Oct. 12 earlier this season, improving its series advantage over the Bears to 36-10 all-time. The Bulldogs bested Wofford 3-1 on Oct. 15 in the Pete Hanna Center and hold 21-6 series record against the Terriers.
