FULL SPRING ACADEMIC ALL-SOCON TEAM (PDF)

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Samford led all Southern Conference schools with 86 representatives on the Spring Academic All-SoCon team, released by the league Tuesday morning.
 
To be eligible for the Academic All-SoCon team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the spring semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions during the recently concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
 
Samford's 86 student-athletes on the list averaged a GPA of 3.73. The Samford men's indoor track and field team led all Bulldog squads with 14 representatives on the team. Men's outdoor track and field placed 13 members on the team, followed by women's outdoor track and field (12), women's indoor track and field (11), baseball (9), softball (6), women's basketball (6), women's tennis (5), men's golf (3), women's golf (3), men's basketball (2) and men's tennis (2).
 
Overall, for the conference, 637 student-athletes made the squad. The league's 10 women's outdoor track and field teams led the way with 81 Academic All-Conference selections, while the nine women's indoor track and field programs combined for 72. The six men's lacrosse teams combined for 69 selections.
 
Samford led all schools with 86 academic all-conference selections, followed by ETSU with 66 and Western Carolina with 63.
