SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- Samford led the Southern Conference with 88 representatives on the Spring Academic All-SoCon team, released by the league Wednesday.
 
To be eligible for the Academic All-SoCon team, student-athletes must carry at least a 3.3 cumulative grade-point average at the conclusion of the spring semester and were required to compete in at least one-half of their teams' competitions during the recently concluded campaign. In addition, the student-athletes must have successfully completed at least three semesters at their institutions, making true freshmen and first-year transfers ineligible for inclusion.
 
Women's indoor track and field led all Samford teams with 14 representatives on the team, followed by women's outdoor track and field with 13. Men's indoor track and field and outdoor track and field had 12 members each on the squad. The softball team followed with 11 representatives on the team.
 
The baseball and women's basketball teams placed six student-athletes each on the team. Men's tennis and women's golf had four each on the team, while men's golf and women's tennis had three each on the squad.
