GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Samford University soccer team continued its recent hot steak with a 3-0 win at UNC Greensboro Sunday afternoon at the UNCG Soccer Stadium.
 
The win marked Samford's 10^th shutout of the season, the highest total in the nation. Over Samford's last three games, the Bulldogs have outscored their opponents by a total score of 11-0. Samford's record is now 7-3-3 overall and 3-1-0 in Southern Conference play. UNCG fell to 4-7-2 overall and 1-2-1 in league play.
 
Mary Raymond got the scoring started in the 28th minute when she intercepted a UNCG pass and placed the ball in the center of the goal for a 1-0 Samford lead. In the 54^th minute, Ella Simpson headed in a goal off a free kick from Alyssa Conarton to make the score 2-0. Brigid McElderry scored a goal in the 71^st minute for a 3-0 Samford lead.
 
Raymond led the team with three shots, while Layla Brown had two shots. Samford goalkeeper Zoe Clevely had two saves in posting the shutout. As a team, Samford outshot UNCG, 10-6. The Bulldogs had four corner kicks, to two for the Spartans.
 
Samford will next play at Furman on Thursday, Oct. 5. The game is set for a 6 p.m. (CT) start from Greenville, S.C.
