Bulldog Cross-Country Teams Set For SoCon Championships Friday

BIRMINGHAM. Ala. – The Samford men's and women's cross-country teams will compete in the Southern Conference Championships, hosted by UNC Greensboro Friday at the Ivey M. Redmond Sports Complex in Kernersville, N.C.
The women's 5K race begins at 9 a.m. CT, and the men's 8K race will follow at 9:45 a.m. CT. At the conclusion of the men's race, the meet will close out with an awards ceremony to recognize the top teams and individual runners.
In the 2022 SoCon Championships, held in Charleston, S.C., the Samford women finished second, while the men placed fifth.
Six of the Samford women's team's nine competitors from las year's SoCon Championships returned this season. Gabbie Hoots (10th), Harper McGowan (15th), Katie Keller (16th), Sinkenesh Parker (20th), Macie Pfeuffer (25th) and Mary Kellison Thorne (63rd) all returned to this season's team after competing last season.
The men's squad returned five runners who competed in last season's SoCon Championships. Andrew McGinnis (15th), Caleb Scheffler (31st), Harrison Siegel (32nd), Cole Arrington (38th) and Jack Harchelroad (74th) came back from last season's squad for the Samford men.
