Samford Volleyball Hits Road For Contests At ETSU and Western Carolina

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – To open a four-game road trip that concludes the regular season, the Samford volleyball team heads to ETSU and Western Carolina for a pair of Southern Conference contests.

Friday's showdown at ESTU will get underway at 5 p.m. CT and will not be streamed. Saturday's weekend finale at Western Carolina will be streamed on ESPN+ and is slated for a 5 p.m. CT start in Cullowhee.

The Bulldogs went 1-1 to close out the home slate of the regular season as Samford fell 3-1 to Furman before sweeping Wofford 3-0 on Senior Night.

Gracie Lynn Butler and Kaleigh Meritt rank top five in the SoCon in total kills, with Butler (370) sitting third and Meritt (277) in fifth. Butler enters the weekend sitting 18th in the country with her 370 total kills and 19th averaging 4.30 kills per set.

Middle blockers Kate Wonus (.284) and Greer Golden (.283) rank seventh and eighth in the SoCon in hitting percentage while junior libero Kate Morgan sits sixth in the league with an average of 3.93 dig per set.

After topping the Buccaneers at home in early October, The Bulldogs are now tied with ETSU in the all-time series with each program having 12 wins apiece. Samford is 7-3 in the last 10 matches dating back to 2019.

With the sweep of the Catamounts in early October, Samford improved the series advantage over Western Carolina to 31-9. The Bulldogs have caged the Catamounts in 13 of their last 15 contest.
