BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Samford University graduate defender
Kylie Gazza was named to the preseason watch list for the Women's Hermann Trophy, the United Soccer Coaches announced earlier this week.
A total of 56 collegiate players were named to the preseason watch list. The Hermann Trophy, presented annually by the Missouri Athletic Club, is the nation's highest individual honor recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined by the voting of Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches.
Fifteen women's players will become Hermann Trophy semifinalists following completion of Division I All-America voting at the end of the fall season. On December 6th, the three women's finalists will be announced. The 2023 winner will be revealed on Jan. 5th, 2024, in a ceremony at the historic Missouri Athletic Club in St. Louis, Mo.
During the 2022 season, Gazza was named first team All-SoCon for a third-straight season and first team All-Southeast Region by the United Soccer Coaches. She started all 22 games, logging 1,884 minutes for the Bulldogs. Playing from her defender position, she ranked fourth on the team in total points with 10, netting four goals and dishing out two assists.
Gazza and the Bulldogs will play their first home game of the 2023 season by hosting DePaul Sunday at 1 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field. Admission to all home soccer games is FREE.
