HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The Samford men's and women's cross-country teams competed in the Southern Showcase, hosted by Jacksonville State University, Friday morning at the John Hunt Cross-Country Park.
 
The Samford women's team placed eighth in the race with 214 points. Of the seven teams ahead of the Bulldogs, five were SEC teams. The men's squad came in 16^th in the event with 445 points.
 
Sinkenesh Parker paced the women's team, placing 30^th with a time of 17:35.30 in the 5K race. Edie Smith placed 38^th at 17:44.80, while Adeline Haisch came in 42^nd with a time of 17:49.30.
 
The men's team was led by Andrew McGinnis, placing 58^th with a time of 25:01.30 on the 8K course. William Jordan came in 72^nd, running the course in 25:11.60.
 
Samford will next compete in the Louisville Cross-Country Classic on Sept. 30 in Louisville, Ky.
