GAME NOTES--SAMFORD VS. VMI (PDF)
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford University soccer team will play host to the VMI Keydets Thursday at 4 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field, and will play at UNC Greensboro Sunday at 12 p.m. (CT) in Greensboro, N.C.
Thursday's home game will be Senior Day for the Bulldogs. Seniors

Samford and VMI have met 11 previous times, with Samford winning all 11 meetings. Last season, Samford earned a 5-0 win over the Keydets in Lexington, Va. In the 11 previous meetings, Samford has outscored VMI by a total score of 45-1. Samford and UNCG will meet for the 19
th time, with Samford holding an 11-5-2 series lead.
Samford enters the week with a record of 5-3-3 overall and 1-1 in SoCon play. The Bulldogs are coming off an impressive 5-0 win at Wofford last Sunday afternoon. Samford has been led offensively by
Kyla Reynolds and
Mary Raymond with three goals and two assists each.
Nikki Bario and
Layla Brown have two goals and two assists each.
Taylor Yount's 27 career goals rank third in school history, and her 66 points are tied for sixth in program history. Both totals are the most of any active Southern Conference player.
Lindsay Origliasso and
Kylie Gazza are both tied for the most career games in program history with 90 each.
VMI enters the week with a mark of 1-10-0 overall and 0-2-0 in Southern Conference play. The Keydets opened SoCon play last week with a 2-0 loss to Wofford Thursday night, and another 2-0 setback at ETSU on Sunday. VMI has been led by Sedona Dancu with two goals and one assist for a total of five points. Caroline Marini and Eva Torres have one goal each for the Keydets. VMI goalkeeper Jillian Hall has a 1.91 goals against average so far this season.
UNC Greensboro, who plays at Western Carolina Thursday, comes into the week with a record of 4-5-2 overall and 1-0-1 in Southern Conference play. The Spartans opened SoCon play with a 2-1 win against The Citadel last Thursday, and then fought Mercer to a 1-1 tie on the road. Ava Kiss and Caroline Woods share the team lead with two goals, one assist and five total points this season.
