SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Samford goalkeeper
Zoe Clevely was named the Southern Conference Defensive Player of the Month when the league released its monthly awards for August Thursday afternoon.
In five games in the month of August, Clevely posted four shutouts, including three solo shutouts. Her three solo shutouts came against power 5 foes Auburn, Ole Miss and Oklahoma. Overall, in the month, she saved 12 shots, while allowing just two goals.
She saved five shots at Auburn, one against Jacksonville State and three each against Oklahoma and at Ole Miss. She allowed two goals in 419:42 of time in goal, giving her a 0.43 goals against average for the month.
This week, Samford will play at in-state rival Troy Thursday night at 6 p.m. The Bulldogs will then host Kennesaw State for the annual Shauna's House game Sunday at 1 p.m. at Shauna Yelton Field. Admission to all home game is FREE.
