BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Samford volleyball team will go on the road for a pair of Southern Conference matches this weekend. The Bulldogs will play at The Citadel Friday at 5 p.m. (CT) and then will play at UNC Greensboro Saturday at 4 p,m. (CT).
 
Samford enters the week with a record of 11-5 overall and 5-1 in Southern Conference play. Entering the week, Samford has won five matches in a row, including wins last week over Mercer (3-1) and Furman (3-1).
 
For the season, Samford has been led offensively by Kaleigh Meritt with 227 kills, and she ranks second in the Southern Conference kills per set at 3.72. Gracie Lynn Butler has 174 kills, while Ally Cordes has 149 kills on the season.
 
Additionally, Lexi Thatcher leads the team and the Southern Conference in assists with 649, averaging 10.30 assists per set.
 
Kate Morgan leads the team in digs with 241 on the season. She ranks eighth in the SoCon in digs per set, averaging 3.8 digs per set.
 
Samford and The Citadel have played 29 previous times, with Samford owning a 23-6 series lead. Last season, The Citadel won both regular-season meetings, but Samford earned a 3-0 win over The Citadel in the semifinals of the Southern Conference Tournament.
 
Samford and UNC Greensboro have played 32 previous times, with the Bulldogs holding a 23-9 series lead. Last season, Samford won both meetings, both by scores of 3-1. Samford has won the last five meetings in the series.
