BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –Each week during the 2024 season, we will release The Chris Hatcher Show. The show hosted this season by Kevin Blackwell and featuring head football coach Chris Hatcher, will look back at the previous week's football game and look forward to the upcoming contest.
 
Last week, the Bulldogs earned an impressive 55-35 win over the seventh-ranked Mercer Bears at Pete Hanna Stadium.
 
For Samford in the win, Quincy Crittendon completed 23-of-37 passes for a career-high 378 yards and four touchdowns. The four touchdown passes all came in the first quarter, which set a Southern Conference record for touchdown passes in one quarter. Defensively for Samford, Noah Martin led the team with 10 tackles to along with one fumble recovery and one interception he returned 26 yards for a touchdown. Gavin Morris recovered a fumble and returned it 55 yards for a score.
 
This week, the Bulldogs (3-3, 2-1 SoCon) will travel to Charleston, S.C. to take on The Citadel Bulldogs (3-5, 1-4 SoCon) Saturday at 1 p.m. (CT) at Johnson Hagood Stadium.
 
Samford and The Citadel are meeting for the 18th time, with Samford owning a 10-7 series lead. Last season, Samford earned a 37-7 win at Pete Hanna Stadium. The last time the teams played at Johnson Hagood Stadium was during the 2022 season when Samford picked up a 38-3 win. Samford has won the last five meetings and is 7-3 in the last 10 contests.
